This movie starts with Leo (Saint Obi) on his knees begging for the return of Vicky (Thelma Okorie) to him. Vicky is practically a gold digger who sees no gold in Leo, and therefore refuses his love. Stubborn and persistence to get her back, he stages a ploy with a prostitute he meets at a bar he frequents. The prostitute, Jessica (Kate Henshaw), to pretend to be his girlfriend for a pay.
Plan A works for Leo and Jessica when Jessica by chance becomes a college roommate of both Vicky and Gladys ( Fina Peters). Jessica upon insistence from her mates, invites Leo into their pad. Vickey is shocked, but at first shows no sign of going back on the relationship with Leo, only when Leo starts buying expensive gifts for Jessica did she Vicky wants him back.
Plan B works for Leo and Jessica when they get Vicky inflamed about winning Leo’s love again. This time, she’s on her knees crying and begging Leo even as abandoned in Leo’s apartment. She also fusses with Jessica for stealing her husband to be, dismissing her as a ‘snatcher’. Jessica holds her ground but worried that they must abandon the trick before it gets ugly. Unbeknownst to both Jessica and Vicky, Gladys had a secret crush on Leo and writes him a letter, forces him to a date and still have to go looking for him at his apartment without invitation.
In Plan C, Leo proposes and buys Jessica engagement ring to the disgust of Vicky, and Gladys who swallows her disgust and disappointment and rejection secretly. Jessica ends in a hospital with a fatal wound in the stomach by Vicky.
A beautifully constructed story Fatal Mistake is. What gets me a little confused is the title of the movie. Saint Obi goes undercover to find the most beautiful but contented and truly honest wife in the city where girls look for only the fat pockets but have no love for anyone. If this is the design for Leo, a successful architect, to find that true love and almost causes the murder of Jessica, that may be the mistake because Jessica ends in his wedding bed as she turns out to be the true love. Costly Mistake can’t be a mistake for the entire family evening entertainment. Good
